PDX Escalator Upgrade Containment

Portland, OR Airports & Public Transportations

As part of the PDX Circulation Upgrades project at Portland International Airport, a multi-phase renovation was underway to upgrade escalators within the terminal. Because the airport remained fully operational throughout construction, proper containment was required to safely isolate work areas from passengers and airport staff.

The first phase of the project involved replacing a network room located within the terminal. In this area, sections of the ceiling had already been removed, exposing mechanical and electrical infrastructure that would normally be concealed by a drop ceiling. This created a unique containment challenge, as the temporary wall system needed to extend and seal around existing equipment above the ceiling line.

Our team installed a temporary containment system that followed the structure above the open ceiling area, ensuring the construction zone was properly isolated while allowing renovation work to proceed safely. The system provided a clean and professional barrier within the active terminal while maintaining safety and operational continuity throughout the space.

Temporary Wall Systems West Portland helped ensure that construction crews could move forward with this important infrastructure upgrade while minimizing disruption to travelers and daily airport operations.
