Temporary Wall Systems Portland Helped Local University with Corridors and Classroom Improvements

West Portland, OR Schools & Universities

Temporary Wall Systems Portland supplied and installed TWS Core Containment Enclosures that enabled demolition, hazardous material abatement, and full renovation of a 1st-floor lecture hall and the 3rd-floor hallways at Portland State University. The work began during spring break and continued uninterrupted through the summer while the university remained fully operational.

The high-performance sound mitigation system was key for project success:
- Created secure, dust-tight barriers that completely separated students and faculty from active construction zones.
- Reduced noise transmission to adjacent classrooms and offices, allowing the general contractor to perform the majority of work during regular daytime hours instead of limited night/swing shifts.
- Significantly increased available working hours each day, providing greater schedule flexibility and crew productivity.

All demolition, abatement, and renovation activities were completed with plenty of time remaining before the start of the fall semester. Final punch list items were addressed and accepted well in advance of student move-in, ensuring zero impact to the academic calendar. The university received updated, code-compliant spaces on schedule and with no disruptions to ongoing classes or campus operations.
